Program
La Buena Vida (LBV) is a free exercise and nutrition program designed to support the healthy development and personal growth of Latinos. Our interactive classes and health-related resources promote healthy aging and overall wellness.
Our Mission
We aim to support the mind, body, and spirit of intergenerational communities of color through physical exercise and nutrition classes. Our goal is to combat the public health crises of dementia, heart disease, and diabetes that disproportionately affect these communities.
About the Program
Meet Our Instructors
All instructors offer modifications to accommodate different fitness levels, ensuring everyone can participate safely. They create a safe and supportive environment by educating participants on body mechanics, breathing techniques, and movement practices to prevent injury.

Ruth Lopez
I proudly serve as a fitness coach at the Inland Empire Health Plan (IEHP). With over a decade of experience in strength training, I hold certifications as an Inclusive Adaptive Trainer, Group Fitness Class Instructor, and Rehabilitation Technician. I have had the privilege of significantly impacting the recovery of survivors of brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, strokes, and other conditions through personalized therapy modalities. My dedication to physical well-being drives me to support others in their health journey and overall wellness.

Alexis Romero
With 10 years of experience as a trainer and athlete in the fitness world, I am dedicated to helping others achieve their fitness goals. I am a wheelchair user due to a spinal cord injury. Prior to my injury, I was a CrossFit instructor in Mexico and competed as an athlete. After my injury, I continued teaching CrossFit to both conventional individuals and wheelchair users.
Currently, I work as a personal trainer at the Don Knabe Wellness Center located in the Rancho Los Amigos Rehabilitation Hospital. I am also involved in para-athletics, specializing in long-distance events, with the marathon being my preferred and most accomplished distance. Nothing makes me happier than seeing the community engage in exercise and stay active. With great enthusiasm, I will help you achieve your goals and improve your quality of life.

Karla Lopez
I am a dedicated paralegal with 12 years of experience providing exceptional legal support in fast-paced environments. My expertise includes case management, legal research, and client communication.
In addition to my legal career, I am a fitness instructor and have maintained a consistent gym routine for the past 10 years. My passion for health and wellness drives me to motivate others to achieve their fitness goals.
I am also a former patient of Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center who now gives back as a volunteer and peer mentor, offering support and guidance to others navigating their recovery journeys.
As a bilingual professional, I effectively connect with diverse clients and colleagues, fostering strong relationships. As a single mother and a natural people person, I thrive in social settings and bring a positive, solution-oriented approach to both my professional and personal life.
